Hi Jo
Glad to hear you are feeling better. Only thing worse than being so sick, is being sick so far away from home. Make sure you eat lots of the cookies on cookie day--they will build your strength back up (proven medical fact--I promise). Take care and glad you will be back home soon. By the by one of the folks on the quilt already sent out squares. What is wrong with these people?? For crying out loud, I don't even have my patterns all picked out yet.
Safe travels

Hello Jo, I am enjoying your space so much. This sure is a adventure, the pics are fabulous. I have read for a couple weeks now and feel I have gotten to know you a little bit. You do not know me. When I was little I hugged a dolly once and thought of the girl that would have that dolly. I see that little girl has grown to a remarkable person. Maybe once you are back you could write me and I will write you. I live in Portland, Oregon but grew up in Kansas. Take care and keep taking those beautiful pictures. Karen

September 23 2007-08 Blog and Photo AlbumsHello everyone!
Putting a reminder here for new visitors:
1. You can access the old "BLOG" / journal / Archive beginning with August 2007. (My "on ice" journey was from Oct, 2007 - Feb, 2008) My "on ice" BLOG for 2008-2009 is at: Burning Tree Art
2. If you click on the small photo in the center - it will open into a larger format. Be sure to check out ALL of the photo albums. August 04 Link to new BLOG locationI'm trying to consolidate webspaces! For the 2008 - 2009 Season on "The ICE"
....At McMurdo Station - Antarctica.... Please go to:
June 26 Time to PQ for 2008-09 SeasonToday I mailed (medical tests/forms), and faxed other - less sensitive information, to Raytheon to hopefully finalize my PQ process.
(PQ stands for Physically Qualified) Even though I have a signed contract (which was completed while I was still 'on the ice' in Feb.),
No one gets to return to McMurdo until they have passed the physical and properly filled out and signed all the paperwork I will place my other website address here - as I am thinking of doing all the photo posting and blogging on it during this season.
Although Windows Live has been great and easy to figure out - I want to consolidate my life!
. . . . . April 10 Need a Program?Let's see - it's been a few weeks since my return to Kansas. I think I'm starting to settle back in. I felt like I was walking around in a 'fog' for the first week or 2.
I have been doing programs around the local circuit of Clubs and Civic Organizations. I love talking about my experiences in the Antarctic!!! Helps keep it all fresh in my memory!
And YES....
I have begun the steps to return. Raytheon has sent me the fist PILE of paperwork that needs filled out - signed - and returned. (Along with the required physical tests.) Both my Dentist and Doctor know we're going to be working fast and furious to get it all accomplished so I can have the "P.Q." status!!! You know - I believe I had more ... (or at least more FREQUENT) contact with my family while DOWN there! Everyone is back to the normal routine.
I did have a few people contact me about getting themselves hired. (I'm pretty sure at least ONE did get hired!!!) Yeah!!!! I will be happy to help - this type of experience should be passed around! I still say "WOW"... every single day.
P.S. The time frame would be the same as this past year: Oct through Feb March 10 Back in KansasGood morning everyone,
The 2 weeks spent in New Zealand was wonderful and relaxing. I made it back to Kansas yesterday afternoon. My family met me at the airport with cheers and holding "Welcome Home Mom" signs! Hugs and tears were plentiful. We then headed over to Kendra and Bill's home for PIZZA and stories!
Today I start unpacking. My living room has been filling up with boxes, bags, and envelopes of items I've been shipping home. Will be like Christmas to open them all!
YES.... I do have the option of returning to McMurdo/Antarctica this fall to work again.
Tom already said yes... and the girls said it wasn't so bad to have me gone- and that the time flew by for them. |
